Cardiff is the Capital of Wales and is the Headquarters of the Cargo Services (UK) Ltd Group. Four of its subsidiary companies are also based here:- Cargo Services (Ryans) Ltd, Cargo Services (Stevedoring) Ltd; Cargo Services (Shaplands) Ltd; Cargo Services (Shipping & Trading) Ltd.
The Port of Cardiff lies at the convergence of the Rivers Taff and Ely and can handle vessels up to 35,000 Dwt with a maximum beam of 27metres and a length of 198 metres on a draught of 10.37 metres. It handles around 2.5 million tonnes per annum.
Cargo Services operate at 3 general Cargo Terminals in the Port and have access to quayside warehousing and transit sheds which total over 46,000 sq.m (over 495,000 sq.ft).
The Port is equipped with 7 quayside cranes ranging from 7 ½ to 15 tonnes and is served by 3 Mobile Harbour Cranes with capacity up to 35 tonnes.
Cargo Services (Stevedoring) Ltd handle around 350,000 tonnes of cargo in Cardiff which comprises mainly steel products of wire rod in coil, Re-bar, beams, profiles and RHS as well as forest products, dry bulks and aggregates.
